ISDA - Institute for the Study of Developing Areas
The Institute for the Study of Developing Areas (ISDA) is a public institution registered under the societies registration act as a non-profit making autonomous body. The purpose of the society is to undertake action projects and promote interdisciplinary research with special emphasis on the problems of socially underprivileged groups and under-developed regions. Its objectives include empowerment of weaker sections, undertake programmes for sustainable rural and urban development, provide vocational training and skill development programmes for the poor especially the rural women, promote social harmony and national integration, popularization of science, environmental protection, research and publication in the areas of development and administration. etc
The ISDA Journal is an interdisciplinary journal published from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala by the Institute for the Study of Developing Areas (ISDA). The journal gives emphasis on publication of empirical research articles and theoretical studies having special emphasis on development and Public Policy. It is registered with Registrar of Newspapers for India (R.N.64437/91) and obtained ISSN0971-2550 in the year 1991. It has a national level circulation and is subscribed by libraries of numerous universities, colleges and institutions of higher learning all over the country. It has also more than thousand individual subscribers nation-wide.
‘ISDA Publications’ is subsidiary wing of the Institute for the Study of Developing Areas. Its objective is to publish empirical studies in Development and Public Policy. It also encourages publications of interdisciplinary studies, scientific enquiries, creative arts and literature. So far we published a dozen books having ISBN.
Institute for the study of Developing Areas (ISDA) is a public institute registered under

Since then, the institute is engaged in various activities with the objective of empowerment of weaker sections, undertake programmes for rural and urban development, provide vocational training and skill development programmes for the poor especially the rural women, promote social harmony and national integration, popularization of science, environmental protection, research and publication in the areas of development and administration etc.
The Director Board is the governing body of the institute. Its members are elected by the Annual General Body meeting for a period of three years. Currently (April 2018 to March 2021) the Director Board members are

ISDA and ISDA Journal represent the organized initiative of a group of professors, researchers and academicians belonging to an interdisciplinary domain. We have about 25 well experienced academicians voluntarily associate with us in our academic activities.
From the beginning onwards our journal is a peer reviewed/refereed Journal. We have experienced and excellent faculties who help us voluntarily to refer/review articles and provide with valuable comments for the refinement of the research papers submitted to us for publication. The articles received to us undertake rigorous review of two or three of the faculties in the panel based on the nature and subject matter of the article. The articles will undergo Strict plagiarism test based on similarity indexing software so that the authors may modify their articles based on the reports and make their piece of research refined and significant .

ISDA Journal, the multi-disciplinary and refereed Quarterly primarily focuses on development and public policy. The Journal has a track record of three decades of uninterrupted publication. We invite empirical studies, conceptual papers and review articles that fall within the scope of the journal for publication. Research papers and articles submitted to the journal go through a double blind review process to ensure quality. Also, strict plagiarism check through similarity detection software is an integral part of the review process and quality control. Our editorial policy is that we will not consider article/ research paper for publication, if it is currently being reviewed by any other Journal or if it has already been published or will be published elsewhere. The Journal or any part thereof may not be reproduced in any form without the written permission of the Editorial Board. All data, views, opinions, etc., are the sole responsibility of the authors. Neither publisher nor Editorial Board is in any way responsible for them. The journal provides open access and downloads for researchers, faculties, students and all academic community who see it valuable.
Through the past three decades of existence, the journal has earned a reputation as a serious journal in the area of development and public policy and its reach is far and wide due to the continued patronage of the Scholars. The core source of income of the journal to meet its cost of publication is subscription from the academic community and institutions of higher learning.
